Things DJI can improve in Mini 3. Just my opinion.

Agree. However, I think sub 249g market is going to explode really soon, including luxury offerings. This is where market is going right now. I bet we'll see some expensive drones, with many costing more than some upper level drones. I can even make a bet that DJI will have Mini SE...

Things DJI can improve in Mini 3. Just my opinion.

Yes you are right. I meant that x2 zoom on that 12MP tiny 1/2.3 sensor is "workable". All I mean is that it's good enough quality to live with. While x4 deteriorates so bad that it's not workable (at least for me). So essentially I'm just wishing that we will get same equivalent x4 zoom (35mm...

Things DJI can improve in Mini 3. Just my opinion.

Yes, I did it not knowing what I'm doing, when I was doing a lightweight mod for Mini 2. Got weight down to 211g, but later I put back some things. Now it's fully back to stock. To remove the sensors I took off mainboard (after removing heat sink) and then on the back side of mainboard there's a...

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

Wow this is very useful info! Thank you very much Slawaw!

Things DJI can improve in Mini 3. Just my opinion.

All valid points here. Weight limit will be a major obstacle. However, some things are just firmware, so it is possible to add them without increasing weight. Sensors - yes they will add weight, but when I was removing heat shield on my Mini 2 (see my other thread) I also weighed downward...

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

Thank you so much! I will order CP2112. This is really interesting stuff! Slawaw I'll get back as soon as I receive it. I very much appreciate this information.

Is that a real drone? It looks very futuristic!

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

Ah, maybe that's why I was having problems when I was welding. I think my welder is a cheap one with barely 60W. I will take note and order a good 100W soldering iron. To be honest I only welded several times in my life and I'm not experienced.

Things DJI can improve in Mini 3. Just my opinion.

If DJI will release Mini 3, I would really like to see several things that Mini 2 is missing. 1. Better camera. Slightly bigger sensor with better low light capability and a better zoom to go with it. Workable x2 zoom already exists in Mini2, but x4 zoom is noticeably poor. So maybe we can see...

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

Thank you. Yes, it's interesting sometimes to venture into mods and see how specs change with mods you do with your own hands. It's a bit like custom building your car in old days. I think Mini 1 is a good donor. I'm limited by the need to put everything back, so I can't really go to extremes...

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

Yes, you are right. I'm actually putting everything back again. I did it only to test different things that I was curious about. I think no doubt it looks much better when it has top cover and everything back. Safety is also restored as it was. I think DJI made a very good product with Mini 2...

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

Actually I just noticed your weight of 374g and if it has air time of 44 minutes with that weight - that is excellent! Much better than my "2 battery mod" with 42min. I don't know why mine has such low time, considering it weighs 287.7g, but I suspect your battery is superior.

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

    1. So my stock Mini 2 - did 27 minutes (I don't know why not 31min like it says in DJI manual). 2. Lightweight "stripped down" 215g Mini 2 - did 31 minutes real hovering in my room. 3. Heavy 287.7g Mini 2 with "2 battery mod" - did 42minutes of real time hovering in my room (just finished test)...

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

So just tested it hovering and it hovered 15 minutes more than stock Mini 2. So added second battery doesn't add 30 minutes, because obviously weight is more, but adds about 15 minutes more to stock. To reiterate: Lightweight or my "stripped down" 215g Mini 2 only hovers 4 minutes more vs...

Weight reduction of Mini 2 down to 212g = 4 minutes more air time.

Forgot to mention, that charging works too both in drone and in hub. Essentially second battery is just welded to plus and negative terminals. Neither drone nor inserted battery know that there is additional battery and because it's exactly same voltage - that means it will discharge and charge...
