What you did was let go of the controls. What you SHOULD have done is very quickly apply full reverse thrust and you might have saved it - or maximum climb. It simply doesn't stop that quickly if you just 'let go'. -

[personal opinion follows]: trying to fly an ordinary camera drone as if it were a true fpv drone is a huge mistake and an accident waiting to happen.
