    Drone Repair

Just got my Mavic back from Rob at Thunderdrones after he completed repairs (replaced gimbal). Second time I've used his services and both times I've received excellent service, quality work, and great pricing. If you ever need repairs or maintenance on a DJI product, I'd strongly recommend...

    Gimbal disconnect error

No idea how it mattered, but reformatting my SD card fixed this same problem for me. I was about to gtfu when I saw this post. The instant I removed the SD card my camera and gimbal came back online. Reformatted card and everything works now. Go figure!

    Dealing with "idiots"?

while you are here, if you wouldn't mind, answer a quick question for me please. If I hit return to home on my mavic but I'm not at home will it actually fly all the way back to my house? Even if I don't want it to? Also, when I fly my pocket drone, should I take it out of my pocket before I...

I use a Mini4 Pro with a Skyreat controller adapter to hold the iPad. I highly recommend the HoodMan accessory too. The link below is to an old post of mine that has a couple pics on the subject. Good luck with your new toys...

    Tricky Airspace Questions...

So I just looked it up on kittyhawk and according to them you can fly at the lower msl beneath the agl level of the sfc class c airspace and then as you approach nearer to the runway where the agl altitude decreases, it goes to 0ft permissable according to the facility map. essentially, it's...

    Tricky Airspace Questions...

A friend posed a question to me today to which I did not have an immediate answer. I know my airspace pretty well and I'm very familiar with the rules pertaining to airspace for UAS pilots. Here's the question I had not been confronted with before: "If I am operating in Class C Airspace...

    Fines issued!

I get what you mean but he kinda stepped in front of that bus all on his own. Makes us all look bad.

    Fines issued!

It's difficult to find a clear answer about that question since the FAA technically controls all airspace to the ground surface but local governments have drafted and passed their own restrictions on low altitude flight rules. Essentially, it depends where you are when you fly.

    Fines issued!

Not steep enough. The press loves stories about drones impeding upon people's privacy. It scares people and that's what lines us up, saucer eyed, in front the telly waiting to see what's coming to get us next. And that is how you sell advertising time. "There's asbestos in children's...

Confused by the flight rules in a specific area

Yes, October 2019 is the expiration. Not looking forward to it. Written tests are not my forte. If they were I'd have probably made it out the third grade before my kids grew up.

Confused by the flight rules in a specific area

Okay that's really helpful as well. I'd found in AirMap that LAANC was not yet available. I see in your attachment it states coming soon at or below 150'. Good to know for future reference. Did you pull that screen grab from an app or a site? Mind sharing that info? Trying to best...

Confused by the flight rules in a specific area

Just a six-story building I'm flying around to get some shots for the client. 150' would be the max altitude i'd need to fly. Line of sight will be easy to maintaining since I won't need to gather any continuous shots around the property.

Confused by the flight rules in a specific area

Thanks for the verification. Yes, I'm part 107 certified. This question may have even been on my test...which I took almost two years ago. I scored an 85. Airspace related questions were the main part of my "C-" performance. This is the first time I've needed to request a...
