It's very simple. The importer has to pay to get the goods across the border. And then they pass their additional costs on to their customer. Whether they choose to soften the blow by wearing a portion of those costs, is a trivial matter, since... -

Unfortunately, Youtube is rife with pablum that many users spoon up without questioning the accuracy. Their US residency hasn't helped millions of Americans understand tariffs or claims that immigrants in Ohio are eating people's pets.
