DJI announcing Flysafe-AirSense (ADS-B) What do you guys think?

Shutterup, the UK does ADS-B more thoroughly than the USA because less aircraft in the USA are ADS-B equipped,; check out Flightradar24. Because ADS-B provides altitude information it would be very easy to filter out all aircraft above a drone’s height envelope, I hope they’re doing that. You...

    Have I got the bottle?

Can you get inside the structure? I’ve seen one flown down a very deep underground shaft on ATTI (London Crossrail access shaft), but the pilot was in the shaft too. If outside and dropping in, I would set the RTH altitude to well above the tower height, then if it loses contact it should...

Got attacked by a swarm of bees today!

Well, they sure are honey bees. But in that picture, they are all male drones, no female workers. So, you really did mess up a mating flight! Spoilsport. Not a swarm. I don't see the queen in there, maybe she escaped. Anyway, she had an exciting wedding day. I don't know how a mating flight...

Got attacked by a swarm of bees today!

I keep both bees and a Mavik 2. Pretty sure they are not honey bees because bees just don't behave like that. I'd love to inspect the debris on the hull. I strongly suspect another insect, an actual bee swarm won't attack anything, their minds are on other things and they become very docile...

DJI announcing Flysafe-AirSense (ADS-B) What do you guys think?

Hmmm. Disappointing. ADS-B in the drone would be good. We can already see aircraft, but on a seperate app. Not a big leap to add it onto the flying app.

DJI announcing Flysafe-AirSense (ADS-B) What do you guys think?

This is an almost total solution to some aspects of drone safety and illegal flying. ADS-B has been pretty much universal on all aircraft in the EU, Australia and NZ, for some reason the USA has dragged its heels over it, even Boeing. I have yet to see an aircraft In the UK that didn’t appear on...

My neighbor keeps calling the police

Well, if it was around my place, I'd drop around next door with a couple of beers and invite the guy, his girlfriend and kids to come out and get some fun flying lessons. Demo it and show him what it does and doesn't do and get him interested. Offer to phtograph his house or workplace or...

DJI announcing Flysafe-AirSense (ADS-B) What do you guys think?

ADS-B has been mandatory in Europe and Oceania at least for a long time, for some reason the US resisted and used another system with a long delay built in. Airbus has always had it, Boeing now installs it on later models. In the UK, with FR24 on my phone, I see many light aircraft, gliders...

Who flies beyond line of sight?

I'll be honest and fess up. I rarely look at the drone beyond the first and last minute of its flight. I use my Mavic Pro almost exclusively for mapping surveys. I design the flight pattern in the office sometimes days before, then go fly it. If there are trees about then it's out of sight...

Prevent a Crash or Flyaway with Your DJI Mavic (the Complete Guide)

Brilliant effort! Well done! A great droning asset. I would like to endorse the plea for a downloadable pdf version.

Mavic Air fell into the Philippine Sea

Happy for you, lucky fellow. For the record: Rice is good, and worked fine for you, but I am reliably told that kitty litter is preferable if available.

    Camera Tilt Helps GPS position?

It's just poor wording. English is not DJI's first language, so they're doing their best. What they mean is that unless the camera is pointing straight down the image will not be centred on the GPS coordinates, which are perpendicular below. There is no connection between the GPS and the camera...

i found a mavic on a hike in los angeles

A good reminder to put your phone number and email address on your drone. If this owner had done that she’d have her drone back by now.

Attaching Marco Polo Tracker to Mavic

It doesn’t fit with the UK radio frequency spectrum allocation. The US has a different spectrum allocation plan. To sell in the UK or EU, Marco Polo just need to change the frequency to comply with the local spectrum allocation. Operating at a frequency allocated for another function may...

"Aircraft in Area" Warning - Where does this come from?

It comes from aircraft equipped with ADS-B transponders. Not all aircraft have them, Airbus always has, Boeing, I think does now on later versions, some private aircraft have them but it’s not mandatory. It will not show aircraft not equipped or aircraft flying in areas not covered by an ADS...
