    h.264 vs h.265... CHOPPY VIDEO

Try running your video from an external SSD drive, eg Samsung 1TB.

    New MP4 owner questions/issues/legalities

Probably the best current source of reliable information on the UK regulations and how they are about to change is the CAA consultation paper of Nov 2023. Every UK pilot should read it imho.

    It's official - M4P can't handle the cold

Just the left side of my brain telling me that if water can't get hotter than 100C, no matter how much more it is heated, then human blood and flesh shouldn't get any colder than 0C no matter how much colder the surrounding air is. Can I get a Nobel prize for this?

    It's official - M4P can't handle the cold

If I turn up the heat once the water my eggs are cooking in starts to boil at 100C, they don't boil any faster. So I assumed that the reverse is true and that I wouldn't freeze any quicker at -20C than at -1C.

Video looks overexposed in Windows Media player. It's fine in VLC

Same thing with HLG video on my old (2017) iMac. The native MacOs 10.13.6 Quicktime Player hasn't been updated for years and can't handle HLG. VLC displays HLG fine - but can't cut, trim or save it. I think we both need new PCs.

    Obstacle Avoidance and Thin Branches

Nothing to see here: owners get fair warning that OA can't see cables or thin branches so you only go there if you want to crash. The M4P did very well to survive multiple crashes and stay in working order. Looks to me as though OA delivers what it says on the tin.

    h.264 vs h.265... CHOPPY VIDEO

Fair point and you are better qualified than me to make it. I will only say that I never take photographs so I am only comparing H264 video with H265 video wherein I can see little difference. But I shoot a lot of green being in the countryside and have never filmed an urban landscape which...

    h.264 vs h.265... CHOPPY VIDEO

I wouldn't bother for DJI's version of H265 because their H264 files are no larger and, imho, no worse quality.

    h.264 vs h.265... CHOPPY VIDEO

FWIW, I just compared Mini 4 Pro H264 and H265 footage of the same scene and to my eye there was no discernible difference in quality…If pressed, I would say that the clarity of the H264 video was maybe a tad better. So not sure I can buy into the DJI claim that both are the same file size...

    h.264 vs h.265... CHOPPY VIDEO

I have never previously converted H265 to H264 and compared them; but, for sure, every time a video is processed/resaved it loses some detail unless working in ProRes. Best never to do it imho.

    h.264 vs h.265... CHOPPY VIDEO

DJI's H265 files are the same size as their H264 files but claimed to be higher image quality. Exporting a DJI H265 video to H264 (using Quicktime Player), the H264 file is much smaller. Using a short 4K clip from my M4P, the H265 clip weighed in at 160MB. The same clip exported as H264 weighed...

    h.264 vs h.265... CHOPPY VIDEO

Mac-wise, I think you would be OK with any current iMac, Mac Mini or Airbook. Get the latest M2 chip - but FWIW, my 7yr-old iMac and 8yr-old Mac Mini can both play H265 video fine. Ask the vendor to confirm in writing that it can. DJI, for whatever reason, chose not to pass on the storage-saving...

    Aircraft Signal Interference

Good news. I'm having a similar problem I think - over flat, empty fields. Could you tell me how far you were able to fly before getting the interference and over what type of terrain?

    Mini 4Pro Remote Control Settings

Yes indeed, it seems the M4P has 2GB of built-in internal storage on the drone and 32GB on the RC2. So why not connect the RC to your PC to offload the screen recordings and save yourself an SD card?

    Mini 4Pro Remote Control Settings

If you are showing 32GB of internal storage, that must be on an SD card because the built-in internal storage is only 2GB.
