Mavic Pro Platinum - Carrying a payload?

One of the key things for us, is going to be ease of transport and speed of deployment. For example, if there is a chemical spill on a river, we need to be able to get a water sample quickly before the current carries the polluting substance away. Same for our Harbourmasters, who will have the...

Mavic Pro Platinum - Carrying a payload?

^ Legend, thanks heaps - gives me a bit to go on. Will definitely keep you posted.

Mavic Pro Platinum - Carrying a payload?

Cheers FlyGuy - it would definitely be dangling, as it would have to get into the water and fill up, so wouldn't be able to get the drone too close to the surface. But the Phantom would lift a kilo without issue?

Mavic Pro Platinum - Carrying a payload?

I posted this on the DJI forums, but as i'm also a member here i thought i'd post here too. I work for a Regional Council here in NZ, and one of the things we've startred doing is using drones for field-work; surveying farms, river stop-banks, pump stations, culverts etc. For this we have got a...

What video editing software you guys using?

I've been using an open-source (i.e free!) one called ShotCut. Haven't done any colour correction stuff (which i understand it has as a feature), so i can't really comment on that aspect. But it feels really lightweight, and has been quite user-friendly. I'm running an i5 with 16GB RAM and a...

    Mavic Air case

^ Yeah man, that's a seriously epic piece of kit! Love it, but wife would probably divorce me if i spent that much on a case, lol.

    Mavic Air case

I leave the charger components at home - I just ensure the batteries are all charged up before I head out. Haven’t had the drone long, but may need to put the cables etc in the top pocket if I need to take the charger with me, like if I’m taking it on holiday or to a friends place and need to...

    Mavic Air case

^ Thats basically the same as my one, but I use the charger part for my landing gear, cables and iPad mount. Room for 4 batteries if you put one in the drone :) I modded in a shoulder strap using an old laptop bag I found at work. Wanna see a pic?

    Mavic Air case

^ That’s a very nice case indeed, reasonable price too. I picked up a similar one from Aliexpress for NZD$30 - there are an absolute ton of different designs and prices across Aliexpress, Amazon and eBay, so do definitely shop around. :)

    Landing PAds/Landing gear

I used my PGYTECH ones for the first time on Sunday, with my Mavic Air, and they were great. Super light, easy to put on and remove, and no noticeable drag or adverse effects on the AC. And, I had a friend join me, who also has a Mavic Air, so was able to test the performance of each drone...

Has anyone used the jsr Nd filters?

^ Sorry man, i don't think that's correct - the Mavic Pro they just press on, i'm pretty sure with the Mavic Air they screw on. Apparently a good technique is to use a rubber band around the Gimbal lens, so that it's a better grip, and applies equal pressure around the circumference. I've also...

Flying on a plane with my MA ...

Oh my God, i am such a muppet ..... i had visions of you busting out your Mavic Air in the cabin of an aircraft and flying around!!! I'm tired, been a long day *sigh*

Has anyone used the jsr Nd filters?

Interested to hear your thoughts on these filters. Have looked at them a few times on Aliexpress, but never had the stones to push go - cheaper, but still a lot of coin if they turn out to be rubbish. What is the Star one like? What does it actually do?

Might be dumb question but should you keep the battery out of your drone when not using?

Been keeping a battery in my drone too, but i can see some sense in taking it out when it's hot, so will start doing that. Like your avatar too, by the way; really good game, that! ;)

    Landing PAds/Landing gear

I got a cheap set arriving tomorrow too - the look okay. For that sort of coin i figured why not. Also have a landing pad, which is basically just a small-ish roll-up mat with a rubber backing. I like the idea of a proper landing pad, but it seems like they need to be pegged to the ground, which...
