Air 3 Alaska From Southeast through the Aleutians on a crab boat

Amazing footage, absolutely stunning! Now as for the color grading I'd only suggest to watch closely the waveformand scopes to achieve consistency in brightness and saturation. A few clips are a bit too much on the bright side and a few perhaps a bit too dark. This is more obvious and perhaps a...

    [SOLVED] RTMP: 1080p gone

What do you mean by loosing smoothness? Smoothness of what? Flying charcteristics, control stick responsiveness or smoothness of screen resolution or video downlink quality or what exactly?

What to get? Mavic 4 Pro or Mavic 3 Pro

Yeah eaxactly ! Those are the least important things when considering upgrading to M4P from M3P since M3P has had all of those 🤣

What to get? Mavic 4 Pro or Mavic 3 Pro

Not natively. The sensor in Hassy 28mm camera has physical ratio 3:2. I debated this before and pointed out that if you often fly in tight spots or need extra (almost 25% extra) vertical coverage which the 4:3 sensor behind 24mm in M3P provides then you might struggle with M4P. The other 2 tele...

D Log M (with Auto ISO) Superior to D Log

Good video, thanks for sharing! Well explained why LUT is actually a good thing😀. I've learned to grade D-log M using CST in DaVinci Resolve but applying DJI LUT makes it a simpler process with less Nodes.

    RC Pro and External Recorder

AFAIK RC Pro does not receive 4K video via OccuSync O3+ during flight. From the manual: "RC Pro features O3+ video transmission technology, capable of sending a 1080p/60fps live feed from up to 15 km away and latency as low as 120 ms." I have not tested the HDMI output format myself but based...

    Mavic 4 - Canyon

The Coyktonty WA attachement has two 1 starr very unflattering reviews on Amazon. But 15.5mm would be way too wide and with too much distortion for what I do anyway. Thanks for the recommendation though. And I do appreciate your thoughts on the D-log M+Auto ISO vs. the true D-Log. Thanks again

    Mavic 4 - Canyon

Thanks for your reply. Good to hear about the 28mm vs. 24mm from someone who used both in these situations. I often shoot in scenarios when I find myself in constrained spaces (urban environment) and the 28mm would be a real headache to me. But as you say in open spaces like broad landscapes and...

RAW vs JPG - dynamic range difference?

My only disagreement with you is the last part of your post. "It all depends upon what the photographer wants and is trying to achieve, and the compromises required to shoot DNG in the first place (think frame rate) , and whether the editing time and effort required to properly process the DNG...

RAW vs JPG - dynamic range difference?

Yes. I did. Yes, I did. Again I was talking on behalf of the person who said that a quote: "16 bit RAW file has 65000 information to work with" and I said that that generic statement was close to being accurate. There are not many cameras which shoot 16bit RAW files though. Some MF cameras such...

RAW vs JPG - dynamic range difference?

I guess what he meant to say was that 16bit raw file has approximatelly 65 000 (65,536 to be exact) steps of color per channel whereas 8 bit file such as your typical JPEG has only 256 steps per channel. That would be more or less correct.

    Mavic 4 - Canyon

It is the perspective of the 28mm lens not where the flyer put the camera what's creating the perception of the shots lacking depth. The wider the lens thus more encompassing, especially in constrained spaces like this, the more dramatic the shots are which I thing would be beneficial here...

    Mavic 4 - Canyon

Since you've posted under Video Critique I assume you expect some CC? I'd say great effort but to me this is a good example where the 28mm lens on M4P makes most of the shots look constrained and lacking depth and grandeur this location no doubt deserves. Challenging light but you've dealt with...

    Confused about dual native ISO

I find this whole chatter about dual gain ISO in Auto ISO mode quite amusing. DJI claim these outrageous dynamic range figures on their latest prosumer drones with QB sensors equaling or even exceeding the best professional video cameras such as Arri and Red without even bothering to clarify how...
