30 minutes? I got it 100% under 10, and I wasn't focusing on it too much... It's very easy, you can't answer wrong and quick to do. And test applies to any recreational flying, regardless of weight (so Mini etc included) - you just don't need to register those.

With SC you can use any 7-8" bright on-camera monitor via HDMI, if SC screen is too small. SC itself is reasonably bright, and adding 7" 2200NIT monitor is a good combo. I use FeelWorld monitor with LifThor mount (handheld or tripod), works well for me.

@Phantomrain.org just did a test flight few hundred ft (not too far due to the wind) - no problem with SC and Feelworld FW279: connected over HDMI, output 1080p/60 (4k monitor but 1080 is enough for real time viewing for me), HDMI mode = duplicate. So setup seems to work OK, waiting for that...

Could someone please recommend a tripod mount that can be used with smart controller? I have 7" Feelworld monitor (2,200 nit) that I think would be nice to use with SC, and mounting both on my light video tripod seems like a nice setup - but I can't seem to find SC tripod mounts on Amazon...

If you consider not-free options, RealFlight (with or without Spektrum controller) is a good option, though drone part is smaller then fixed wing.

I recommend 49” ultrawide plus small 24" next to it - vertical size would be the same for both, that's my setup and ultrawide is great for post work
