    Ban on DJI

I don't even trust my xiomi vacuum robot, bless her, she's wonderful!, but it uses wifi and constantly tries to get my phone to connect to it. I need a tin foil hat, haha, or maybe i should wrap the vacuum in tin foil.

Fly as You Are October 30

could be good for the teenage market, $400 is more in their price range (can I ask why we pay so much for a phone??). if you thought people hated drones before, I can't wait to see what it'll be like with this consumer bracket.

So you think you have a birds problem?

the birds make it. I usually have cockatoos and galahs doing circles but I always shoot up and away so my videos are dodgy.

Going on 3 years without a crash. What's my secret?

you also clearly don't believe in jinxing yourself. :p

    CIFT will be obsolete

exactly, for someone like me who flies to take photos of a specific thing, I rarely fly more than 100m away, I really don't need to study charts.

Tracking & beyond line of sight filming

either way, it's an obscure reference that shows our age. I'm off to google if we can watch the entire HH series online somewhere, that would be fun to share with my teens.

Never flown + 5 week road trip, need advice (lots of it)

agreed, but I do use it when I "lose" the drone in the bright sky. Eventually I manage to spot it and cancel RTH. It's important to always make sure the "home point" has been registered.

get extra batteries and a car charger. :) practise before you go. train your kids to be your spotters, very useful, pay them if needs be, $1 for being the spotter (or ice cream at the fuel stop, etc, be creative). you can offer them 50c for every attacking bird they spot, what fun, like African...

I don't get that reference, Klink often broke rules, unwittingly, unwillingly, hilariously.

you're a "pioneer"???? hahaha, of what exactly? what a lofty title you have given yourself, grandiosity is not a good trait in a pilot. I don't mind if you are pushing the limits in a very safe environment, but your tone suggests you have little care for others, so I suspect not. Good luck to you.

has anyone used the Open Sky app yet? the reviews aren't good. Looks like it's an American company (Wing LLC). They don't endorse that their info is correct, and there is a CASA disclaimer stating it's not approved by CASA and all info is advisory only. So this statement on the app page: "our...

A friend of mine had red prop guards and they were really great for visability. They are just super annoying to put on/take off and she always left her drone fully set up in the back of her car, rather than putting it away. I wasn't keen on that so i didn't bother getting them. That's why I was...
