Good catch, yes, your are more or less restricted now with the Mavic 3 series to C2 rather than C1 (except you buy refurb or the remains on the shelves).
That would be the very obvious.
But something tells me, that DJI somehow had to redesign more than the battery in order to comply which obviously they did not consider economic enough for EU countires. They could even just let one of the cells empty to reduce the weight, but they didn't which...
@GadgetGuy
I think Mavic 3 Pro not for EU or UK? has summarised it quite well. I doubt we will see the Mavic 3 Pro C1 compliant or a special variant. I guess that will either be the Mavic 4 or a Air 3(s).
It does, but having large panos with the bright sky in view, you really struggle even with +2 EV from the RAW compared to the foreground.
With the Mavic 2 Pro and Litchi you could do the trick of first getting into the AEB mode, than pano mode and then all the pictures were shot multiple times...
In fact it is: the Mini 3 Pro is C0 (with the imprint of 249 g on the battery itself) but you cannot buy the battery plus within the EU from any vendor officially. That was a clever trick from DJI with this model indeed.
Battery plus (left), standard battery (right).
As the C rating is not...
Like with the Mini 3 Pro, but there's probably the catch you rightly point out: the Mini 3 Pro is with the standard battery < 249 g but DJI features a battery plus, which then adds flight time but surpass the 249 g threshold.
The Mavic 3 Pro is in standard configuration C2 with >= 900 g but < 4...
It's just DJI and their restrictions on software or limiting it to specific hardware again ...
If they fancy, they could implement the code instantly on other models too as @Darkabaz is right to quote from the Mavic 3 Enterprise.
And while they are at it, please include AEB while panos too...
Hi there fellow drone flyers,
I wonder, if some of you think that the Mavic 3 Pro, as good as it sounds on the technical details, hugely missed the point of a C1 rating in EASA airspace. As it specifies by now, you will get a C2 rating and thus be obliged to fly in A2 subcategory as follows...
I also only do 99 % stills and would instantly take the Mavic 3 Pro for the additional focal lengths that come in quite handy for landscape or cityscape photography too, like compressing or emphasising views (as @skyscapist very well showed).
That said, with the MTOM above 900 g there's is...
A tele lens can be very useful and strong in landscape or cityscape compositions indeed.
Not everytime wide or even ultra wide is the way to go.
That said, the M3P with its > 900g MTOM and A2 restrictions in place for Europe is just too heavy for me as I am living in a dense area (and cannot go...
So does the drone ship 9th May, 2023 or 5th September, 2023?
This American date notation even for other countries is just ridiculous on DJI's site. 😂
Besides the very fine technical data (what the Mavic 3 should have been from the start anyway), it's way too heavy for Europe. Anything above...
This feature has been there with DJI Go 4 and the SC for instance for a long time.
Cannot say I am impressed, but better DJI has now decided to bring it back.
