GThere is nothing inherently dangerous about flying over water. As long as you aren't relying on sensors to keep you from crashing you don't need any recovery device. Maintain VLOS, and you'll be fine,

Probably not much. This has always been political rather than factual. Facts mean less than ever these days, so I wouldn't expect anything to change. Unless, of course, DJI were to figure out how to heap praise on the orange one. It worked... -

That sounds like every sovereign citizen video. The ones that always end up with the proponent in the back of a police cruiser. I favour a less confrontational and more cooperative approach.
