The ol' Mavic Pro still flies like a dream...

The great thing about the MP and M2P is that they both can fly automated waypoint missions beyond the range of the transmitter-receiver link. Not that we would ever do that, of course.

    Best Frequency for Forest Flying

Agreed. Leaf-off season is much better. Regarding forest stream flying, I do it often and it's difficult without goggles, or a 13" ipad w/hood. I end up using the Avata for a lot of this kind of work.

    Best Frequency for Forest Flying

Thanks for your service as one of the unsung heroes protecting our national lands. God bless and I hope that retirement is all you've dreamed it to be.

Pete Hegseth's Three Goals for Producing Small Drones

Our military's future is now in the hands of idiots and grifters, so the taxpayers will get fleeced, the GIs will die, and the industrialists will get richer while we're being told the opposite by people who seem to lie almost with every spoken word. And the cultists next door will lap it up.

    RC2 vs. RC-N3

I have the RC 2 but if DJI does not come through with their promise of Goggles 3 compatibility, I will get the RC-N3 and run it with my 13" iPad.

Trump Administration Pushes Forward with BVLOS Drone Rules and Section 2209 Reforms.

In what universe is this true? Because it's not true on planet Earth. They are going to take away our airspace so that commercial drones can freely use it. It's all about the money, kids.

    Whitetail Deer

OP, it matters not if your deer are on your land. State F&G laws apply to your land. Do you have a Captive Bred White-Tail Deer License? If so, you can check on your herd. If not, no joy. As an aside: I'm a forest ecologist with 30+ years experience in NY and New England and I manage 10,000...

What are the rules on flying near birds of prey?

Correct. It is unlawful under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act "to at any time, by any means, or in any manor, to harass, pursue, hunt, take, capture, kill, or attempt to harass, pursue, hunt, take, capture, or kill any migratory bird protected under the Act, which includes all hawks, owls...

New Mavic Pro 2 Owner Here. Any User Advice?

I ran into the EXACT same issue with the M2P a few years ago. I was flying around noon on the winter solstice (I think we were like 15 min. off of the exact moment of the solstice) and when the autonomous flight turned S into the sun to get back home, she stopped and went into a hover. After a...

New Mavic Pro 2 Owner Here. Any User Advice?

A most entertaining post, Sir! I, too, am a big fan of the M2P and autonomous missions. From what I have gleaned elsewhere, and this is distilled opinion, DJI is reserving autonomy for their professional lines as one of the major benefits of going big. I do miss the days of long-range FPV, very...

Well, it happened again. Ken and Karen on the beach.

I was lured in by the title but very pleased with your outcome. Good news is in short supply these days, thanks for the upbeat post.
