Actually, if you are referring to the DJI goggles, they don't operate in the 5.8 spectrum- they are also using Ocusync, which is all in the 2.4GHz ISM band.

Although much of what you say is true about amateur operation in the 5.8GHZ spectrum, 5.725 - 5.875 is in the ISM bands and hence requires no license. Spread Spectrum technology is allowed to go well beyond 0.5 milliwatts for ISM devices.

I think the way you ascend/descend is to fly in Fixed Wing mode... I've done this on the goggles and that's how it works. BUT... you gotta be matching firmware. For instance, I have to be on .700 on both for this to work correctly. I imagine .800 on both would also do it.

I really don't understand all your odd nomenclature, but be cautious. When flying mountains, it is very easy to get behind intermediate ridges and lose LOS. You basically are flying your forward view, and don't realize what might be slipping in behind you. It's easy to get lost in the beauty...

It doesn't just RTH at some preset %- it calculates how far and high you are from home, and activates the Battery RTH based on this calculation. Be forewarned, it does NOT take into account prevailing wind conditions, so if you are way out there and are battling a heavy headwind on the way...
