Bought and Tested the DJI RC Plus on Ebay that claims to work with the Mavic series of Drones. Guess What? IT DOES WORK! I'll tell you why.

my bet is it is dependent on the body that software thinks it is in. If it is not present, then that software would have no reason to look for it. They aren't hacking up the software. They simply figured out a way to get software from one rc to sideload into another is all.

They also mix those into the paint on the roadway in most states, and briefly, they used them in making reflective tshirts (those didn't stick so well)

I have an inexpensive multi-roll pack I got off amazon that looks just like the picture above. My metal detector does not react to it.

Drone pilots refuse to be grounded by The Villages FL

That's pretty much how federal regulation and case law goes, as well. That's why I am saying their definition is suspect.

Drone pilots refuse to be grounded by The Villages FL

This is the age-old dilemma. One of the things entities do, is rely on the price of a tool to limit those who wield it. Every time an item gets a low bar to entry, it gets used in creative ways that no one foretells, and some of those aren't palatable to the general public. For instance, the...

Drone pilots refuse to be grounded by The Villages FL

I am sitting on a bench in sunny florida in front of a home. They are frolicking in their front yard, half naked. This is where I take my break on my daily walk around the cul-de-sac. Police do something called 'plain reading of the elements of the offense'. Using that benchmark, am I...

3M uses microspheres of glass in the layer above the polymer substrate. That's why it looks grainy.

Drone pilots refuse to be grounded by The Villages FL

Excellent question! I was being hypothetical, but I had at one time a 500mm.... maybe it was f/4. Dunno, maybe it was built from a telescope, but it was a light cannon for sure!

That appears to be an AI answer. My experience with Mylar and Kapton is that it is generally RF-transparent. A sputtered metal coating can be added to it. The balloon issue isn't so much the conductiveness of the material, it is that it is providing a relatively sharp point to help cause a...

Dronelink mavic air 2s way points issue

This might be silly, you guys probably know, but there is a FPV mode on the camera. I tried it, kind of felt like I was flying, but was terrible for videography. (shrugs)

Bird Hazard deterrent placements on drone

I know very little. I do know that if the retroreflective material is metal backed, and it is placed over the GPS antenna, it does degrade it. There was another thread on the topic. I don't know how much reflective stuff is adequate to deter birds yet. My suggestion is for the top surface...

Drone pilots refuse to be grounded by The Villages FL

Severe, dire trouble. No question. The problem I have seen personally with litigation, is... once it starts, you never really know where it's going to wind up. ESPECIALLY with the full-court press currently against drones and the government and media fanning the flames. No problem with the...

Drone pilots refuse to be grounded by The Villages FL

I don't think the FL definitions will hold water under proper scrutiny. The concept and implementation of surveillance has been hashed out, fought against and is pretty well mature at the federal court level. IF I were to run afoul of a FL case, I would ask if me with a 500mm f2 lens on the...
