No warranty for malfunctions at night

That's a fact, from the ones I've been able to observe. Hollow threat at the best.

Legal implications of using self recorded public footage

Did you read the part of him wanting to do this for profit? Did you read the subsequent discussion of what may happen when someone calls in a complaint? You are attempting to cover multiple legal avenues with a common sense filter. That's fine for you and your risk level, but it's not fine...

Legal implications of using self recorded public footage

Try to play the drone version of 'that's not my pants, officer' and the **** thing follows you shoo go 'way

Legal implications of using self recorded public footage

I have caught myself 'loitering' once or twice when I lost my bearings and was rotating the drone looking for a strobe pulse. Watching the monitor then go uhoh look up and uh... uhoh. Not surveilling, simply not moving until I regain positive control; but from the viewpoint of the person in...

Legal implications of using self recorded public footage

But you can't say that with authority. You may be fine after a couple of years and a hundred thousand dollars in legal fees, and no telling how much in bad press. They can seize the aircraft AND the remote to search it for evidence. You are at the mercy of the ability of an investigator...

    Android Changing Rules About Apps

The issue is, We don't know what the software is doing. You may very well have a couple of holes plugged, but you have to connect to the mothership on the regular or it will cripple your drone. This is by design, unquestionably. It would be trivial for the thing to pick an obscure port, or...

Legal implications of using self recorded public footage

It's sad that this is even a question, but I am right with you. Honestly, with the possibility of fines that accrue per day, what I would probably do is call the state movie commission. I bet they would know exactly what the regulations concerning filming for profit might look like, and help...

Police are using drones to read license plates.

I really don't care about the drone angle. Between flock and paid scouts, you aren't getting away from license plate readers. I'm a little torn; it has helped in my state with missing people and stolen cars. But I don't like that I am increasingly becoming an excel file of locations and times...

    Android Changing Rules About Apps

That's not really a fair comparison. Are you familiar with that story? Huawei was deeply entrenched in the communications backbone of the country. They couldn't just be ripped out/turned off easily, and there are places that just do what little they can to mitigate their risks. Not like the...

    Android Changing Rules About Apps

Thanks! The issue is that there was an updated thing all devs needed to do, and they didn't do that, if I understand correctly. So while they may have been at one time registered, it places them in a gray area. And I can't think of a single reason for them dragging their feet.

    Android Changing Rules About Apps

Will they have to though? Pretty volatile time for DJI, betting they have considered divesting the drone vertical from their portfolio. What kind of leverage does not complying buy them? Seems like a pretty simple task, they have a ton of staff, so... what's the holdup? Didn't consider them...

    mavic 3 thermal cut off

You got me. Guy was talking like a SME. I thought, I know I've seen video of people hunting for wounded deer in daylight using the thermal imager. Guy literally said running thermal in daylight would burn the sensor out. I could make a case for certain II/night vision type sensors, but that...

    mavic 3 thermal cut off

Hi! Watching a youtube video. This guy says that his mavic 3 shuts the thermal off if it detects daylight to protect the sensor. Is this true?
