Thanks guys - Incredible shot by the way. Starting with a Spark/Mini sounds like the right way to go for a beginner - other side of that is to buy one that you'll keep long term and learn on that, but the thought of crashing an expensive setup on a beginners mistake has me leaning away from that.

Thanks - What you described with the M2Z sounds great! What is the difference in the cameras on the M2P and M2Z, and what size sensor does the M2Z have?

dronerdave: I really appreciate that input! Good advice on learning the rules and going out with others. I'm hoping to find some locals in the forums on here. Advice from you guys is great - thank you. Starting to lean toward getting one for the long term and not have to upgrade later, but...

    Hello from PDX!

I've heard a lot of good things about the MA2 and some say the 1" sensor on the MP2 makes a lot of difference. With the MA2 being half the price, it does not make the decision any easier. Guess we are fortunate to have so many options. Being the beginner, I'm looking around and a $300 used...

Thanks - I've heard of the beginner mode in the 2 Pro and also that the 1" sensor is far better.

rangemaster: Good info - I had heard I may have to 're-learn' with a more expensive platform, so glad to hear that will translate better than I expected.

Great video! I'm new to flying and am considering buying the 2 Pro as my first one. I know that is an expensive rig to learn on, so deciding on buying a cheap one to learn on and then the 2 Pro and have to learn again. Any advice from the pros is most welcome.

I'm in Vancouver, WA and just getting started - Looking for my first one. Trying to decide if I should start with a low-end unit and learn or jump right into a high end and be very careful.

    Hello from PDX!

Hi everyone - I'm near Portland, OR and new to the forum and flying. Deciding which way to go on my 1st one. Low-end and learn (and then learn again on a high-end rig), or go straight to a M2P and try to learn on that while being very careful. Any advice from the pros is most welcome.

Vancouver WA Just getting started - deciding on whether to buy a lower end/used rig to learn on, or go with a high end rig and try not to crash it while getting up to speed.

    Recommendation for a beginner

Thanks Tolly - good advice - it is windy where I live, so that is a good thing to remember. I've started looking around for used rigs and will keep that in mind. It appears there will be some upgrades coming soon on a couple of DJI models, so I may be in a good position to do some learning while...

    Recommendation for a beginner

I appreciate everyone's response, and see the value of both directions - start low and minimize the $$ risk while learning vs. going high with one learning curve and being very careful. I'm going to look around and see what used rigs are available for learning and that should help me make a...

I appreciate your reply and you’ve given me something to think about. My original thought was to go high to start and not have the upgrade in a year, but obviously concerned with learning on a 2k rig. Thanks...
