2 Zoom Vertical ascent to 2243 meters

There is no good reason to fly so high. Most great drone footage is shot at much lower altitudes. At that altitude it all looks the same and is a serious safety concern.

Passed the Part 107 today... but.

Last update: The local office emailed my temporary Part 107 Pilot Certificate this morning. The FAA actually responded quite quickly and positively. I'm very impressed.

Passed the Part 107 today... but.

Quick update: The local district office contacted me by email and requested a new corrected filled-out application and a copy of my Part 107 exam test results. I'm scheduled for a zoom call tomorrow to finalize things. So, it looks like the things will work out with getting my certificate.

Passed the Part 107 today... but.

I have called and got to talk to them. But, other than getting my local district office to help me re-submit my application, there's not much they can do. My district office doesn't answer their phones (only voice mail, leave a message) and everyone's working from home these days. It may be a...

Passed the Part 107 today... but.

Thanks for that. Their Helpdesk says the application can't be deleted. And, referred me to a convoluted process of submitting a 'paper' application by contacting a regional office to cancel the first one. Just got to love the government.

Passed the Part 107 today... but.

After a few weeks of fairly intense study, today I passed the Part 107 exam with a 90%. So far, so good. The problem is when I submitted my application online to the FAA and filled out the application and electronically signed it and submitted it. I noticed I made a mistake with my SS#!! I've...

    UAS Operator Indicted

To the original point of the post: Take a look at any of the numerous Facebook drone groups and you'll see many people openly posting violations of FAA regulations, while at the same time bragging of their right to fly anyway and anywhere they choose. It sucks that the public perception of this...

Air 2 Broke my only rule and flew with the wind out to sea.

Newbie question: Please define: "full stick up"? Thanks.

Mavic Mini 2 or wait for the 3?

Well, let's say they do release the 3 soon after you buy a 2, do you think your 2 would be worthless? Hardly. Sell it and get a 3. Look at it like you've 'rented it for a few months'. This is not rocket science.

Mini2 to IPad mini 4th or 5th gen

Following this conversation. I'm in the same boat as you are... iPad 4 vs iPad 5. Or, even a iPhone 12 Pro max? BTW, I guess you know you can also bring up the maps while you're connected to wifi and then cache them to use while flying with a wifi only device as an option to hotspot with your...

    I R TRUSTed!

Yes, I see where part (b) clarifies the statement made in part (a). My original source only quoted part (a), which led to the confusion... glad to have it correct now.

    I R TRUSTed!

My point is the OP commented he'd just look for a kid with awesome eyesight, implying he'd let him to the looking. And, my understanding is the FAA regulations reads differently. Perhaps not flying under 107 rules there's different requirements – this I don't know and the reason for my comment...

    I R TRUSTed!

Maybe I misread, are you saying that this statement by the FAA is incorrect: "The remote PIC and person manipulating the controls must be able to see the small unmanned aircraft at all times during flight. This requirement also applies to the visual observer, if used during the aircraft...

DJI Mini 2 - iPad questions

I believe they'll have Wifi. Without cellular you'll loose google maps... but, you can cache maps when connected to wifi for later use. Like this guy explains:
