Turn off wifi on your tablet and cell ... the only wifi needed comes from the controller (mavic mini anyway).
Turn ON airplane mode, so there is no cell interruptions as the tablet tries to connect to towers.
Bluetooth, off.
The thinking is, the only communications you want going out into the...
I have a mavic mini, a cell phone (no mobile hot spot capability), a tablet (wifi only).
Plan on flying the mavic mini with the tablet (cannot with cell phone).
So, is it possible to open up kittyhawk on my phone with internet/cell service ... get authorization through LAANC, then fly the mini...
So, I buy a mavic mini and finally get the proper tablet and cable to hook everything up ... and get a remote cannot connect error. hmm
I contact DJI support as maybe I'm missing something simple. They run me through checks, it does not check out, they want to see it to repair it.
Ok, maybe be...
I had a Mavic Pro that ran Go4, and if I was going to an area without internet, I'd cache the map area before I left.
Sold off the Pro and got the chance to get a mini, so did. No map caching I can see, no videos on it either.
I plan on using a wi-fi only tablet with it, as well, my cell phone...
I had ran Go4 last year with a mavic pro original, worked great.
Sold that one off to get the mini ,,,, with less features .... and now my phone is an incompatible device.
If this is to align more with apple and make everything proprietary .... or an attempt to make all of us buy new phones...
I am in need of a newer phone, starting to get limited with space and had put off installing kittyhawk as I wasn't really sure what it did.
So, made room, installed kittyhawk and can just get approved. From what I understand if you're in uncontrolled airspace area, KittyHawk/LAANC won't even...
So, we cannot go by the "Flight Restriction Information" available within app? That's what I'm starting to gather here.
Sorry if I seem dense, I'm just splitting hairs as to not foul up.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm starting to understand, the airports blanket type map locally, threw me.
This still has me scratching my head though (why would I need authorization if it isn't restricted?) ;
But, did you see how on some apps, it says I'm a-ok to fly at 400' where I was, then the airport just blankets the 5-mile radius as an authorization zone?!?
I just wrote to them for clarification. I want to do the right thing, but my head is spinning trying to figure it out (outdated info).
Well, it's not me being crazy or lazy .... with this much misinformation and inaccuracies, anyone would be confused.
Some maps tell you not to fly (LSE regional) ... other maps tell you 400'.
grrrr
I believe the warning zones are actually controlled by human. I had flown my friends mavic towards a bridge, and at one point, it would not allow me to go further, full speed forward and it was just hovering. It was right where the warning zones went from 150ft allowance to 60.
Now, looking...
Thanks sar104 !
I checked log, but nothing notable. I did receive a warning, hit ok and was just going to fly around that local valley.
Just by chance lost connection then I guess ... but at 150 yards? hmm
Now I see the check marks on the BOTTOM of their map heh.
Thanks again.
No, ... when president Trump was in Minneapolis just up the river .... the entire place was a red no-fly zone. *shrug*
Really curious what that gold outer ring is hmm
