they probably contacted DJI and requested them to free that serial number for the ability to up. It's my understanding that can be done. Dunno for sure.

I bought some of the triangular screws and picked up a cheap (and comfy) camera strap for less than the cost of a lanyard. Something like this (used only as an illustration — not endorsing this seller or price!)...
