Thanks, now I understand. I thought you needed an onboard wireless hot spot provided by the phone or tablet to optimize GPS or communication with the drone in flight.

Ahh, so having a wireless connection helps the app. I'm still thinking it might be better to have a dedicated wireless signal onboard to help the app even if it can be flown without it. Can anyone confirm?

Is it better and have a stronger signal or connection to the drone if I do have a sim card and some wireless service installed? I want the best connection I can get.

I could use some informed instruction on how to use my iPad 2 to fly my Mavic Pro instead of my company cell phone. For obvious reasons I do not want to use the cell phone and bought an iPad 2 to use instead. I don't have a personal cell phone or service since the company has been providing one...
