Manual exposure on mini 4 pro

just a bit of followup...the drone did well, but I need to edit a bit to bring up the shadows during totality. I set my exposure during "daylight" according to the histogram. I was outside of Gatesville, TX and we had some clouds. I let the exposure during totality just fall where it would, but...

Manual exposure on mini 4 pro

@Droning on and on, Thanks for the tip. I did not know that, but had changed both, so I was there in Manual mode...in the excitement of totality, I know myself well enough to know I could screw that up, appreciate the insight. This thing is way cool!

Manual exposure on mini 4 pro

Thank you! Couldn't find that anywhere. I had the histogram displayed before I went fooling with the exposure, then histogram was shut off...turned it back on. In that PRO setting, I see shutter speed and ISO that can be adjusted, WB temp is 5600 which is appropriate for right now in College...

Manual exposure on mini 4 pro

Maybe I haven't searched enough, but I tried... I am trying to set a manual exposure for my mini 4 pro, eg not AUTo exposure. I have searched for it and cannot find an answer. I want a fixed exposure that will not correct for lowered light levels during totality for the solar eclipse, I want the...

    Question about Flying in Winds

What are your feelings about the mini 4 pro? I will be attending the solar eclipse in Texas, south of Waco is the plan. My plan is to go up to about <400ft for about 8 minutes, straight overhead, then rtn to home, IOW straight up then straight down, no distance travel at all and with the...

Auto or manual exposure for the upcoming solar eclipse

Thanks again, That's a real risk, part of what dlog is supposed to help with by extending dynamic range at the low light end. Got it; would that, dlog, setting tend to overexpose the daylight setting and that is why you suggest -1 exposure compensation? Best strategy would be to go out and...

Auto or manual exposure for the upcoming solar eclipse

Thanks ^ >1,500 mph is 2,200 ft/s. While it will make file sizes much bigger, I'd shoot this at 4K/100 or FHD/120 which the Mini 4P is capable of.< So, higher is better for a longer view. Any suggestions how high that should be? right now I am set to 300 ish feet. >In 4k/30 you'll have like 3-5...

Auto or manual exposure for the upcoming solar eclipse

All good points, MS Coast, but I would like to have some shadow detail and not just a black screen. I was thinking about performing the exact experiment you suggest, ie get a manual exposure on a sunny day at around 1pm, then, using the same setting see what it looks like just after sunset. I...

Auto or manual exposure for the upcoming solar eclipse

@Illuminata Photo My telescope has a clock drive and I will run that through an inverter from my car battery. I did that for the annular eclipse in October and it worked well enough. It did require fine tuning often enough, but probably because I didn't have it polar aligned well enough...but it...

Auto or manual exposure for the upcoming solar eclipse

to respond and many thanks for the input yes, I am going to test beforehand. I will just left the Mini hover—extended battery—at 4k and see how long it lasts...if it lasts anything over 16 min, I think that part is good and will likely shoot 4k. My main focus will be a two camera setup, one...

Auto or manual exposure for the upcoming solar eclipse

I will take my mini 4 pro to the April solar eclipse. I plan on launching it about 6 min before totality, pointing it facing SSW and catching the approaching shadow, then bringing it down when the shadow had gone...so probably an inflight time of about 15 min total. I will not be using it to...
