I love that you waited for the tide to go down and went in after him. I would have thrown the controller in the ocean and went to BestBuy to buy another.
I would like to mention that DJI replaced my Mavic and I sold it on ebay before Christmas for $1500.00 buy it now, sold in less than 20 minutes. I am going to wait for the P4P or Mavic Rev2
What's up - I'm the guy who made that video. The issue is that if it continues to hit the camera against the bezel it will damage the lenses inside and you'll get "jello vision". I'd create an RMA with DJI because I don't think this is going to be fixed with a software update.
I guess my confidence has been shaken in it's reliability because of the gimbal issue. I only had my Mavic for 72 hours and it had to be sent back, I flew it like 9 times tops...
I think there are some bugs to be fleshed out and DJI rushed this design.
Furthermore and most importantly, DJI...
Update guys -- so before I could get a refund authorized -- DJI already has a new Mavic in the mail to me arriving this Friday. Wondering if I should just sell it on ebay, they're going for like $1500

Please let us know if that changes. I believe that due to the violent smacking of the camera due to the gimbal startup issues it's damaging the camera after so many startups. Please keep an eye on that.
I second this. My Mavic was received yesterday at DJI repair. We will see what they say and I'll post DJI's fix / comments here as soon as I hear from them.
That's good. It really is fast and violent (and loud) and I think the reason the video becomes Jello-ish is because it's whacking the camera against the metal bracket during initialization. Sucks man, who knows when I'll get a replacement.
OK guys -- so I am having the same issue and also the video looks like Jello-vision. The gimbal is totally free to move and the software thinks it's obstructed.
Disclosure: I did not crash my drone. I have only had it since Thursday night. I have only flown it a few times and treated it with...
