Have you tried flying with the phone set to Airplane mode? Some apps refresh in the background or send you notifications that might be interrupting. I'm using iPhone 7 though and only time it shuts off is when a call comes through. Not sure about android though.

Why would you buy a Mavic if you have issues with the quality of image from it? Are you planning on making a block buster movie? It's a consumer drone designed to be easy to fly, and provide a decent quality stabilised video. Certainly good enough to use for online marketing. Pretty standard...

The only real issue is wind, a gust can plough it down. I find land harder if it's not dead flat.

Need to turn obstacle avoidance off, as it leans forward when you're close to the surface and it's moving I'd say your on point with a reflection tripping the sensor.

I tend to keep it in line of sight and take off from water level. The remote will alarm at about 60cm then faster alarm at about 30cm. The Mavic dips back if you stop hard. and can sometimes show a height more than actual. I'll fly about 20cms for about 10 seconds as the Mavic leans forward and...
