Another Bay Visit - This Time Based in Richmond

Yeah you can't really go any further west than Monarch. On the first weekend of the month, they have an outdoor auction and a big fenced-off chunk of the north runway is open, but it's usually packed with people. Or if you're feeling adventurous, there's a place at Jack London Square that rents...

Another Bay Visit - This Time Based in Richmond

Point Molate is a favorite of mine. Take the last exit on 580 before the Richmond Bridge, head up Stenmark, and park in the pulloff on the shore before the Chevron Rod and Gun club. You get some great views of Winehaven, this weird castle-looking building. Haven't been down there yet but...

Updated place to fly in SF Bay Area/East Bay/South Bay

Tried this today for the first time. The actual park was 150% full today, but I drove about a mile north past the castle (?!) and there were plenty of pulloffs for fishing there that were fine for flying. I knew nothing about this place - curious if the big redevelopment plan will happen. Fly...

Places in and around Bay Area to Fly

Alameda's not totally restricted. Check out the far west edge, by the old NAS. The northwest area, where all the distilleries are, is pretty wide open, with some altitude restrictions.

Updated place to fly in SF Bay Area/East Bay/South Bay

I've been studying the maps trying to figure this out, too. I can't tell if there's any way to get there either on foot or bike - does that place where the Bay Bridge trail u-turns under the eastbound lanes have a space where you could cross under the westbound lanes? (I'll have to check it out...

Updated place to fly in SF Bay Area/East Bay/South Bay

I wish Middle Harbor Park was allowed - I live pretty much walking distance from there. Aside from the goose situation (bring an old pair of shoes...) it's very ideal. There's a new park they just finished at the end of Burma Road. Good news is that means a parking lot and restrooms. Bad news...

    Hello from Oakland

Totally new to this, just picked up a Mavic Air 2, and now I've gotta find a place to fly. I'm an apartment dweller in West Oakland, CA, so it may take some hunting. (It's a bit depressing because we've got land in Michigan up in the UP that looks like it's fifty miles in any direction to the...
