I managed to remove the 400' restriction from my Mavic Pro, but it seems to top out at about 1600' AGL. I keep reading about people taking theirs way above even that. Anyone know how that would be done, if it were legal?

I was at a friend's ranch in central CA, and since it's fairly remote, I increased the altitude to the limit of the Mavic, which turns out to be about 1600'. I'm wondering if there is a way to go beyond this height. There is a peak that I'd love to get a closer look at.

The whole point is that if you let one person do it, you've got to let everyone do it, and that goes for any area that bans them. Sure, you're the only guy out there now, but picture being there in the middle of the summer with thousands of other people and a load of drones in the air. Sure...

You're a "professional" photographer, yet don't know about a) The ban on drones in national parks. b)The seasonal closure of a national park. I would think that you would do a little more research into your subject being a "professional" and all.

Out of curiosity, how do you get the MP to fly above 400 feet? Mine gets up to that elevation and holds. I've never really been in a position to go higher or really needed to, but how would it be done?

If it's clearly over your property and close enough to down with a shotgun without presenting a danger to people, I don't think you can be charged with discharging a firearm in public. And what can he really do?
