Windy here in IOWA too. Just remember... fly your missions "upwind". If there is too much wind, there is a better chance of getting the mini down near the launch site and not having a fly away. Also get as low as possible when coming home ( manually ), as wind speeds are faster the higher...
Has anybody looked into opening the RC, and tapping into the power wires, and adding a power plug for an external power pack? Seems the problem is the draining of the RC, so if the RC had 2x or 3x its current MA capacity, by adding and external power pack, it wouldn't matter that is is...
Danman ( and guys )....
I still wonder, why not just open the controller, disconnect the internal battery, run + & - leads from controller board to the backside of the controller case and attach a larger capacity battery pack on the back? Match the voltage, of course, but disconnect the...
Was out flying the outer day... down at the river. Wanted to capture some shots of geese as they flew up river. I went up, over the river and got a few nice shots. ( scene 1 & 2 ) Normally I was lower than the geese... BUT on the third shot, I was EXACTLY at the same altitude as they were...
I kinda understand. SO.... what is CareyL doing here? Seems like he has a way of connecting controller to phone and also to external battery, via the extra USB plug. Does he have a solution here?

I have State Farm insurance on Personal Property.
$60/year per to cover the drone if lost, damaged or destroyed. SWEET!
Did you see I said LOST? .... For DJI Care, you need to send the drone back. You can't if it is lost... Just saying... State Farm is the way to go if you can!

I didnt say connect a constant power source. I suggested connecting another battery in parallel with the one in the RC. This will mearly double or triple the available capacity to the RC. NO change in voltage, just more mah. Li-ion batteries can be connected in parallel with no issues...
So how about opening the controller, and placing a jack in parallel with its battery? Then "plug in" an external battery / power pack? If this now gives the RC 2x or more, the battery capacity, do I care now if it tries to charge my phone? I have 2x what I had before!
