A flat area can be mapped at 150' but if there are buildings or trees you may find some stitching issues at that low height. 4x height of obstacles is a good rule of thumb.

I carry everything I need to prove I'm legal and permitted to fly, airspace and land owner permission wise. That might be a page printed from a web site that states drone flying is permitted.

Were you flying in an updraught caused by an on-shore breeze reaching the coast and rising up the cliff face between you and the sea? This could explain your symptoms.
