DJI aren't going to do anything like that. If you bought outside the US and brought the drone in, you could fly it just as you could anywhere else. It's just going to cost you to bring it across the border. And you couldn't get warranty service...

There is also a new customs rule that requires that you formally document anything you bring into the country over 800 bucks, So even if you buy say in Canada you gonna pay the price anyway at the U.S. border.. DJI has said they will not "launch"...
