DJI Statement on Customer Data and Privacy

WOW. How about that. Uncanny how well it fits the current situation. In my defense, Google News showed the DJI press release as part of the latest story and lists it as being posted 23 hours ago (which is incorrect):

In response to the Army deciding to cease all use of DJI products in its operations: DJI Statement on Customer Data and Privacy "A junior DJI staffer misspoke during an impromptu interview with reporters who were touring the DJI headquarters" Anyone have the source article/interview? [EDIT...

An amazing technique / tutorial for low light night filming with the Mavic

Did he suggest to film in D-log or just normal? I know he said sharp +1 contrast -3

What happens if I don't update to latest firmware version?

Ever since DJI sent the heads up email about the new firmware I've stayed put with firmware and DJI GO version.

    Newbie checking in from Shanghai

Did you register your drone with China's new registry? It took effect June 1st, 2017. I'm headed to to Shanghai now for a quick visit. Brought the drone of course and wondering how I should proceed.

Best settings for a night video shoot?

Not nearly a bright enough lense for night video. Focal range will be absolute shat. It's also a small sensor, so grainy as hell even for the stuff in focus. Abort.

Friend or Foe? Close encounter with killer bird at the beach

Kept him in the frame as long as I could before he just got too close. Made for a more interesting cinematic sweep of Pacifica beach though, that's for sure!

    Crystalsky display

It's really more like a tablet. Why they calling it a display?

    Would you buy a spark?

100% gesture controlled. My understanding is that the Spark is pretty close to this. Sure, it's limited in the things a gesture can have it do, but would be great to not need to have a controller. Maybe a combination of voice commands and/or a second camera that's always pointed at you could...

    Would you buy a spark?

I thought about it because it's smaller and has #fun colors but it's a bit in no man's land. Too expensive to keep around for just-in-case moments and not "pro" enough to capture your prime footage. I hope this is the intermediary before DJI releases a drone that really does fit in your pocket...

This is what's all the fuss is about

So this can be operated completely by gesture, without a phone or controller?

Rules proposed to allow US to track and destroy drones

I'm not sure about this. Consider it from the perspective of freedom of the press. Manned news helicopters often fly in the vicinity of a police raid or other government enforcement action. If the government is doing something next door to my house, I'm certainly allowed to record it with my...
