I wouldn’t trust any floating landing gear, I would trust a floating landing pad more than the gear tbh (market opportunity, tape a landing pad to a river donut instant cash)

Lipo batteries are very hazardous, but I think DJI does a good job making them safe. I have Lipo bags, a nice charger, and am very careful with my race drone batteries though

I think you would want a battery to charge the drone, and a charge controller to charge the battery. Connecting directly to a solar panel is a bad idea because of varying voltage and relatively low current output. It’s like a slow drip

Yeah, I think it was more of someone calling the police because they are paranoid more so than anything that occurs usually. I've flown a lot more times since without having the police called on me so common sense hope is restored
