That sounds crazy. I have never done anything like that. Living on the east coast of the States, we just don’t have that kind of wilderness. Now, with a drone you have another way to document your adventures. Looking forward to seeing a video.

That is a very good reason to carry extra SD cards when you are in the field. If you only had the one card in the AC you would have to go home that day. Thanks for the heads up. Have you tried this in drastically different locations. I know you said you moved the HP around, but are you in the same general area? I am wondering how many satellites you locked. The more satellites the better the GPS precision. I would be curious if more satellites made a difference.

You are doing it right. Limiting your distance and practicing scenarios like you describe will keep you out of trouble. The contributors here have taught me a lot too. Practice things like changing modes, flying by the map using graphic orientation of the AC and watching altitude and distance...

That assumes when you get in trouble that the AC is pointed directly away from you. If you are flying to the left or right that will not work, and if the AC is being blown away it could be pointed in any direction.

This answers everything! It’s China that has been taking control of civilian drones and flying them at night in formation over the Midwest. And, then returning them to their owners during the day.

I am curious about your recovery. Was the AC floating. I have read a number of posts where drones were lost over water, but I don’t remember hearing anything about whether they float or sink.
