Our Hobbyist Drone Alternative to Remote ID: VLOS ID

I would agree with the 3500’ software limiter for lateral distance, as i am rarely over 1000’ for most of my photography. However, I strongly disagree with the 200’ altitude limiter. There have been multiple occassions where I have personally needed to go up into the mid 300’ range to get my...

count me in the group who is waiting for some good guidance from drone advocates (here and elsewhere) on the key points to comment on. we still have almost 2 months before commenting closes

FAA Drone ID Proposal- Round Two

might suggest you take a look at our NZ brother’s latest post xjet he’s offering to “represent” as many of us as want to be represented by his comments to the FAA (in addition to your own submissions)

FAA Drone ID Proposal- Round Two

if the home point info is being broadcast, and the LE app getting the info is something like a map showing the UAS and the home point, then 1519 ft still seems like too short a distance, and greatly reduces the operating range of many of the mid-level and up drones. So why let the FAA do so...

    FAA Drone ID Proposal:

delivery drones would be going up at only set locations (which could be designated as NFZ’s). The delivery locations would also be very constrained, even if they are not the same all the time. so the likelihood of recreational drone interference would be minimal. in their designated zone, the...

    FAA Drone ID Proposal:

so, i watched our NZ brother’s video commentary over here and his counter-proposal to the FAA is that they just adjust the designated altitudes zones. hobbyists get up to 400 ft, commercial UAVs (for delivery, etc.), get 500 to around 1000 ft (or perhaps tighter, as they will be precisely...

DJI is working to add LAANC support

so DJIGo did ask if i did want to self-authorize, but allowed me to skip the process and fly anyway. it seems very hit and miss on when it requires it and when it doesn’t.

    TFR in NJ

on a related note... does anyone know if LAANC goes offline when there are these large zone flight restrictions? I was trying to set up an authorization with Kittyhawk within the “red zone” but for a time several hours AFTER the restriction was set to end, and the app would not even let me...

DJI is working to add LAANC support

I am also learning the process of getting LAANC authorization using KH, then actually flying using DJIGo. I plan to fly this evening, so wanted to get my auth set. It came through instantly on KH, as well as text message, and the DJIGo “sync” indicated that something had synced between KH and...

Recreational Flyers: Get Airspace Authorizations with LAANC (FAA Video)

For anyone using Kittyhawk on iOS...I had to uninstall and reinstall KH to get past the Part 107 login screen and continue with recreational flyer LAANC authorization request
