You had the thing barely a week and already you're flying in high winds at a high altitude and at great distance? I'm not at all surprised your Mavic is gone.
In that case I hope you don't live in Canada. You should sell your equipment because you are a disgrace to to the drone community wherever you live.

It's very clear what happened. You can see in the video that one of the propellors caught a balloon string and it wound up and stopped the prop and down it came.

The bottom line here is if you fly in the rain then your camera lens will get soaking wet and prevent you from taking good, clear video or getting clear photos. Whatever the wetsuit claims, I don't see how it can protect the lens from getting wet. I mean, isn't that the reason you want to fly...
If you have the capabilities you must respond to a police officers request for assistance. That's the law. You may not refuse.
If something prevents you from responding, such as age, handicap or other "thing" then you do not have to comply with the request.

Why were you looking at the screen when flying it in Sports Mode anyway? I watch the Quad, not the screen on my iPad 4 when I'm flying, and especially at"Sport Mode" speed.

There are any number of reasons why your bird dropped into the lake but once you've posted the logs here, some of the very experienced lads up here will be able to tell you what might have happened. You can speculate all day but the logs will tell the tale.
