FAA Release NEW rules for UAS Operations

I recall at some point when the proposed rules were being discussed in the forums that a few people had pointed out that it may just be a firmware update to the controller that would meet the requirement. Also, could it be that a DJI accessory or a third party standalone device could "capture"...

FAA Release NEW rules for UAS Operations

Well, I for one will be glad to see the smart ones in the room give us the cliff notes, specifically... what is going to need to be done to existing DJI drones >0.55 lb to make them compliant.

HELP - Issues with DJI Go 4 Android app on PlayStore

I recently got a new cell phone, and planned to use my old phone (Moto X) as my main Mavic Pro controller. The old phone was running Android 5 and worked fine as my controller with the DJI Go 4 app for two years now. After transferring my cell service from the old phone to the new phone, I did...

    Neighbors, and back-yard flying

since it is topical right now, i'll say it... she's a Karen!

    Landscape photography

Great shots. I mostly do landscapes with my Mavic PP (including my avatar image). I also was shooting triple exposures early on, but realized the 0 EV exposure was the one I ended up editing for further use. However, I've also found it great to get shots either with me in the photo, or with...

FAA Drone ID Proposal- Round Two

My point was that rather than pushing back against the FAA over-reach towards UAS in general, these guys want to just protect their little specialty... there is principle at stake here. So maybe the FAA moves forward with the regs as written, then both all us "bad" drone people AND the...

FAA Drone ID Proposal- Round Two

I posted my comments (5 pages) to FAA yesterday. Up over 25,000 comments as of today. Unfortunately, there are a few people throwing drone users under the bus while trying to defend their model aircraft hobby. Here's an except from one I saw today (from an AMA club member/leader). "The...

Arrested for flying a drone; UPDATE video

Yeah! I hope somebody here in NJ pushes back based on this to challenge the "drone ban" in our state and county parks... although I believe NJ also passed a law/reg at the state level, so it'll be more of an uphill battle.

    Flying indoors near airport

I had the same issue recently. Our church had just renovated our sanctuary, and I offered to do a short flyover inside of the space. Unfortunately, the building is in the NFZ of the local small county airport, so couldn't even take off. kinda sad, esp given that there would obviously be no...

    Maine - Some nutjob

WOW, just WOW. Definitely looked like a star or planet to me. Hype and paranoia, or as others said, a setup/false flag to drive public support for the new proposed FAA regs... good thing it was a little nowhere place, so this "news" will likely not get that widespread.

    FAA Drone ID Proposal:

post # please? And if you are referring to the nice post which linked to a draft response on DropBox... I read the draft. It is a good start, but I think a template comment that calls out the regulations by number/section/subsection is needed, and then each person can add in their generalized...

    FAA Drone ID Proposal:

Yes, that helps with the HOW (and yes, I got the FAA broadcast email)... but what about the WHAT? If you want to encourage a mass response of hobbyists, and you want it to be taken seriously by the faa, someone who is really into the specifics would be the best person to craft the language.

    FAA Drone ID Proposal:

I will gladly post a public comment if someone comes up with the appropriate/specific language and tells me where/how to post. FAA getting 1000's of respectful and specific comments should hopefully allow the proposed regulations to be crafted to limit adverse impacts on hobby flyers like...

    Grounded DJI drones in 2020

That was my reading of the various reports and articles as well... the U.S. gov will not by DJI; no impact on private entities or companies buying them (e.g., not going to be an import ban, at lease not base on security issues... but could happen for other geopolitical or economic reasons, e.g...

    Attitudes towards drones

It was not clear from your post if you already submitted your text. If you want to increase the chance someone reads it, PLEASE PUT IN SOME PARAGRAPH BREAKS... looking at over about 5 lines of continuous text per paragraph makes me prone to just stop reading.
