Nothing was showing red.
As the drone was lost the barometric sensor was not showing a height lower than that of the launch point.
But it's not unusual as the barometric sensor can drift during a flight and end up +/- 10 metres or more.

Not true, the Mavic Pro has a precision landing system. It just isn’t as developed as later drones but with a landing pad was certainly capable of landing within inches of its takeoff point.
The choice is yours.
You can choose which parameters to lock down and which to allow the camera to control.
If you want aperture priority, set the shutter speed to Auto like this:

The manual spells out the requirements for the Precision Landing feature to work.
That's to launch vertically and climb to 7 metres before flying away from the launch point.
No pause is necessary.
