The FCC just gave itself the power to make a DJI drone ban stick

obviously, it would be an 'extreme' option....a remote chance outcome. But since Rep Stefanik pocketed her campaign contributions from Skydio and went on her anti-DJI jihad 18 months ago, every step of the way has included the possibility of an 'extreme' option. All kinds of steps that had a...

The FCC just gave itself the power to make a DJI drone ban stick

I'd assume there are at least a couple of options make it a federal crime to fly a DJI drone although that would be difficult to enforce. But if it was a federal crime I sure wouldn't risk flying a DJI drone. Not with remote ID in place another way might be thru the DJI Fly App. The Feds could...

The FCC just gave itself the power to make a DJI drone ban stick

some of us saw this ban coming a year ago. it's a snowball now...any news is bad news be cautious with your DJI drones because you may not be able to get another, and if you do there's probably no effective warranty.

1000 m high altitute flight - Buying Advice

I believe the Mavic 3/4 models will go up to 1000M if you're more than 30 miles/50KM from an airport. I'm not sure if DJI would allow a waiver in the fly app to go higher I believe the limit on Autel drones is 800M

Best drone insurance for flyaway and damage? Is there a consensus on which insurance to buy?

ok....maybe I wasn't concise enough this was a personal property policy; a separate policy not a part of, or attached, to a homeowners policy. I got up to $5000 in coverage. That could have been $10,000 in coverage...or $30,000 depending on the annual premium I was willing to pay I could have...

Best drone insurance for flyaway and damage? Is there a consensus on which insurance to buy?

somebody earlier in the thread said they had a State Farm policy that would reimburse for the cost of the drone. The policy was $49 year I was offered the same policy for the same price. But I asked for an endorsement that reimbursed at the cost of replacement with the latest comparable model...

Best drone insurance for flyaway and damage? Is there a consensus on which insurance to buy?

I'm not sure but a couple of posters in this thread have said they have State Farm policies without having other policies with the company

Best drone insurance for flyaway and damage? Is there a consensus on which insurance to buy?

calling the reviews "mixed" may be a bit kind. But they are located in California so if you're a California resident maybe you'd have a little better leverage seems like you could insure as a drone, or as an appliance

Best drone insurance for flyaway and damage? Is there a consensus on which insurance to buy?

you've said this before and it's really not that simple it's like saying you bought a house in 1992 for $107,000, have paid homeowners insurance since then, and the house burnt down totally in 2025 when it was worth $977,000, and you only get $107,000 now, it's true that for vehicles, a...

Best drone insurance for flyaway and damage? Is there a consensus on which insurance to buy?

as I said earlier, I have a State Farm policy, but it has different terms. I did not insure for the cost of the drone(s). I insured for the full cost of replacement; insuring only for original purchase price seems unwise. If I lose a drone, I file a claim for the full cost of a new drone of the...

Best drone insurance for flyaway and damage? Is there a consensus on which insurance to buy?

I'll echo the comment about State Farm. I have up to $5000 of drone coverage, full replacement, for $60/yeqr caveat 1 is I have had home and auto with State Farm for decades so I was a steady customer. I'm not sure if somebody who isn't regular customer could get that policy caveat 2 is that...

Cautionary tale for DJI replacement service.

so you're a DJI drone owner. You've got 87 dollars worth of a care refresh policy left and your drone crashes in the ocean. The company you have the policy with can't get replacements through customs, and by the end of the year will likely be banned anyway. That company is in China and has...

Cautionary tale for DJI replacement service.

the "magical shield" is probably being a Chinese company, headquartered in China, with minimal lien-able and exposed assets within the USA. American civil courts have no authority in China besides that, what class action suit is viable? A few thousand DJI pilots with an average of 87 dollars...
