I'm sorry, but it's not true, the Dji RC don't follow the apgrade of the Ios/Android app, it's a closed system. Only a firmware upgrade of the controller change the version of the app. This upgrade is for the Dji Flip that is not supported from the Dji RC. DJI RC Release Notes...

He said that has a Dji RC, not RC Pro, and no updates for this controller.

I bought some 8dbi gain antennas on Amazon and they work well, I also bought some 10dbi antennas on Amazon but they even made the transmission worse. In the first link the antennas also have the cables needed for the modification...

Hi, I modified the antennas on my DJI RC, before I had difficulty in testing reaching 2500 meters, with the modification I reached over 4000 meters and the drone was still usable.
