Not quite fair. Like most support groups, they're just underpaid people with little experience with drones and no job training with drones who are working primarily from scripts.

As an option to a simulator, consider an inexpensive "toy" drone with a two-stick controller. They're a great way to develop dexterity with the controls and they're inexpensive and extremely rugged. They're also light enough that they won't damage interior furnishings.

@maybe_pilot, to positively avoid problems with compass bias, confirm before every takeoff that the drone's direction show on the map on the controller agrees with the actual direction the drone is pointing. If they don't agree, power the drone down and start it again in another location. And...

If you have that sort of connection with and influence over DJI, I'll send you a list of software modifications I'd like to have implemented. I suspect others have things they'd like done, too.
