First up those are not screws. They are spring balls, the balls are captured with a spring behind them.They are often used as detents which is what they are in this case. If you look at the metal tabs on the filter you can see a spot that is...

That's what happens when you use the wrong "North Dakota" filter! LOL! Great technique to retain sharpness of individual frames for extracted stills, and still have appropriate motion blur in the edited video output!
