I use a few WiFi network app tools to check WiFi in the area when I go out to fly. It lets me see roughly how many WiFi points and what frequencies before I start. That way i can get an indication of the better choices. As I am new I always set the RTH and then do not fly outside visual range...
I have found around the areas I fly my Air, that 5Ghz seems less congested and less at risk of interference. I have had some issues with interference but only when using 2.4Ghz as it is much more congested
