I'm insured with Coverdrone: Coverdrone They seem resonably priced and easy to get cover.

Flying in London - help me understand the zones

That's interesting. So there was no fee for the NSF? And you did you just put recreation / capturing video for personal uses in the application? Would be wonderful to fly around St Pauls or Tower of London. Look forward to seeing your results.

Making money from pictures in the uk

Here's all the key info from the CAA: https://www.caa.co.uk/Consumers/Unmanned-aircraft/Recreational-drones/Flying-in-the-open-category/ This factsheet is the one on commercial use: http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?appid=11&mode=detail&id=9950 The only difference when doing...

    Air 2s certifications

Hmmm.... does seem bizarre to release a drone now without a C marking. Feels like it's more tempting to get a cheap Air 2 as a fill in until C-marked drones arrive. Wonder how much it'll drop to?

Storing the batteries in the Hub or Drone? Maybe not

Thanks for the video and info Ian. Until now I've been keeping my batteries in the charger as a handy place to store them so good to be aware of this issue. To clarify - if make sure I've discharged the batteries to 60-70% then is it perfectly safe to store them in the charger / drone? And is...

Flying in London - help me understand the zones

Funnily enough I flew from Russell Square just this week! Flight report here: https://greyarro.ws/t/understanding-flight-zones-in-london/22084/39

Flying in London - help me understand the zones

Yup - anything over 250g is out in all of london (except perhaps dedicated flying fields like Richmond Park). Under 250g you have to avoid the restricted zones you mentioned plus the airport zones. However there's also the matter of take off/landing point. All the discussion above relates to...

Dji mini picture quality on sunny day

Difficulty seeing image on screen - yup that's an issue in the sun. You need a sun shade. You can buy cheap ones on ebay or even make your own fairly simply from cardboard. Image is too bright - It shouldn't be since the camera should adjust exposure accordingly. But you can easily adjust the...

    Mini 2 UK rules

To be super pedantic the Mini 2 is not classed as C0. There are currently no C0 drones (or C1, or C2 or C anything). The Mini 2 (like all drones currently on sale) is a legacy drone. If it's under 250g weight at the time it is flown, it can be flown **as if** it were a C0 (not a toy) drone and...

    Automated orbit (“circle”). radius

So you can start the circle anywhere (doesn't have to be near you) and the focus can be anywhere - usually below the level of the drone (ie the camera is angled slightly down). The drone will then execute a circle with the focus at the centre and the edge of the circle starting at the drone's...

    Mini 2 UK rules

I think this is all speculation based on the rules as they're worded at the moment. Presumably it's possible that future models of the Mini 2 would have C1 stamped the body somewhere meaning officially they're in a different category. More likely I suspect that in the future DJI would release a...

Another new Drone from DJI DJI Air 2S

I guess for us people in the UK (and EU) a key question is whether the new model will have a C rating?

    Flying Indoors, Technical Aspects

I don't quite understand your question. I think Phil explains it very well. The repeater is boosting the signal strength (or rather rebroadcasting it in an area where you wouldn't otherwise be able to receive GPS signals). However, because it's boosting the signals as they're received at the...

    Flying Indoors, Technical Aspects

Since my knowledge is limited I thought it would be good to get some clarification from someone who really knows about repeaters, so I emailed www.gps-repeaters.com who sell and install repeated systems. Here's their response which I think clears things up: > "I get quite a few enquiries...

Jerky video Mini 2 when drone rotating - Yaw

Can you explain (or even better) post a sample showing what you mean by jerky. Pans always look bad unless very slow. Have you tried setting the yaw rate to the lowest speed in cine mode? Could it be a playback issue?
