In my experience Ipads are not bright enough for most daytime light.The Tripletek sounds good.I'm still using a regular not Ultra DJI Crystal Sky(discontinued)that is easy to see in bright daylight.
ok understood. I'll try my truck just to test that's it's working but that makes it unusable for recording footage for our farm blog and for customers. Back to the drawing board.

DJI drones don't use GPS for altitude
That shouldn't be surprising, the specs all have something like this:
Hovering Accuracy Range
Vertical:
±0.1 m (with vision positioning)
±0.5 m (with GNSS positioning)...
Perhaps if you post some examples, someone might be able to give some suggestions, or at least see what you are talking about.
At the moment, all anyone knows is that you aren't satisfied.
