Mine does a similar thing. I live on a quarry and launch from my field which has no visible signs of interference.
I can fly without worrying about it and it's never caused an issue but it would be good to know why it happens
Rotation is a great idea. I have 7 batteries, 3 came with the UAV new and i bought the extra 4 at a later date.
I do tend to use the newer batteries on rotation each week and the 'older' batteries on rotation for the weekend for hobby flying
CAA UK regs do state that 500m is the limit or VLoS. however you can go further with a ' spotter ' who has contact with you and can add another 500m to the original.
Logistically i guess you could go further if you had enough people to ' spot ' the UAv and be in contact with you at all times.
I found rotor guards helpful for my own security when flying close to objects. Only once have i had a gust of wind from the apex of a roof cause the UAV to bump a chimney and at that time i was glad for the guards.
