Mavic Air 2 crashes into Lighthouse

I'm glad you said this, since motorcycling is a good example of 'it's all the operator's fault.' I know this because I'm a motorcycle safety instructor. While the probability of most m/c incidents can be mitigated to an extent by the rider, mechanical failures can and do happen, and can also be...

    Thinking about a skin (wrap)

I wouldn't call it hard.... you just need to take your time. This is not a job to rush through. Sometimes some curved surfaces can prove problematic, but you just have to work curves into submission. I've wrapped every one of mine (7 and counting) to give them some personality and visibility...

Mavic Air 2 crashes into Lighthouse

So crashing can't be caused by equipment failure, or by an external factor such as a bird flying into it?

DJI Fly vs. DJI Go 4

...and the Phantoms and Inspires, as well. :)

So what about Ipad type devices?

I was running my iPad mini (last year's model) with my MA2's, but I really haven't been happy with the balance no matter which tablet holder I use. That, and I don't feel the antenna/device holder combo is well-enough designed to really support the weight long term. Went back to a big iPhone for...

HOLY CAMOLY!!! I can see clearly now!

I've been running DecalGirl's stuff for years (on six drones, with a seventh skin on the way for my P4Pv2 as we speak), never had a skin fail or come off prematurely. Their stuff is great, easy to work with, their customer service is friendly, and they usually ship quickly. Can't beat their...

Whats your thoughts on Mavic Air 2

The Fly app has an issue with auto-syncing flight logs to DJI too soon, resulting in lower flight times. Last word was DJI recommended turning off auto-sync, flying, then uploading the telemetry afterward, then turning the sync back off.

    Upgrade to Matrice 300?

"As a relatively new drone pilot" kinda tells me what I need to know. That's no slight on you, but if you don't need the things a Matrice can do, it's way unnecessary and expensive, not to mention they're not as easy to fly well as the smaller drones. If you're looking to upgrade from an M2Z...

    mavic air 2

I might consider a Mini 2 for fun, but my Air 2’s would do the work. There’s zero business sense for DJI to cannibalize their outstanding Air 2 sales with a Mini that’s as well-equipped, double so when the Air 2 has been out for less than six months.

    Ipad6 for Fly app?

6 came out in 2018, I believe. Should work - at this point it's more a matter of iOS capability, and the 6 still keeps up. Remember, that you ARE effectively taking time off how long it will be supported vs a new one. I understand the cost difference, but just remember in a few years when the 6...

Mavic Air 2 or Mavic 2 Pro?

As everyone's mileage will vary on this thread, here's my experience. I have two Air 2's for real estate work (and fun flying). They do 95% of the work an M2P does (and I have one of them, too) for half the price. They're fast, agile, and for whatever reason I seem to get jobs done faster and...

How to tell my wife when you purchase something

Personally, I don’t really care if you tell your wife when I purchase something. *shrug*

Estimating height if trees, utility line. Buildings. Hills and other natural features both nearby and distant.

This is among the most basic flight safety tasks. Just clear the horizon. Go up until you think you're above any obstacles around you. Do a 360. If anything is visible above the horizon line, go higher and repeat. Once nothing is above the horizon line, go a bit further as a buffer, and...

    State Farm Drone Insurance

I've found their personal property coverage to be quite good. You just HAVE to stay away from the words 'for hire' or 'commercial.' I had a drone go down (flying for fun, of course) and they paid me for the repairs inside of 48 hours directly into my bank account. For NON-COMMERCIAL flying...

Air 2 gimbal orientation when switched off

Yes, normal. It has no power going to the joints, so it'll just go limp to wherever it balances. If you move the drone, the gimbal usually moves too. It's just dead weight. As long as it's operating/calibrating correctly when powered on, I wouldn't give it another thought.
