    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Thanks Paul! Yep I’ve always been very lucky with where I live. I’ve spent most of my adult life living outdoors and travelling. I really feel that it would be great to get the drone flying and photography under my belt. It’s a very different result taking a photo or video from a boat compared...

    DJI care pckg. update

THANK YOU!! :D ok I will try this. The first thing to achieve is retrieving it. It’s a Mavic Air 2. I’ve just tested it on the replacement and the magnet I have gets a excellent hold of the outside of the propellor motor housings. If I can get close to one of those it will come up no problems...

    DJI care pckg. update

Hi Rscheff, it was on takeoff over a lake. It’s in 70’ of water with visibility of only a metre or so. I’m going to try fishing it out with a strong magnet on a fishing line. It will give me something to do one evening instead of looking at the stars. I suspect I managed to fit the props the...

    DJI care pckg. update

Unfortunately care refresh is not available here and if it was I would need to take up scuba diving. But I found their customer service excellent and friendly, if a little slow. They sold me a new drone only and at 15% discount, which is reasonable. Couldn’t ship to Malaysia because of...

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

I can understand how flying a UAS in public places can annoy people. I spent the best part of 20 summers fly fishing the New Zealand backcountry and the drone of a helicopter would completely destroy my wilderness feeling. Also I wouldn’t want people filming me without my consent. The...

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Thanks Spitfire, no one bothers me but I don’t fly where there is anyone to get bothered! :) I’ve usually got the place to myself –. as in like nobody within 2-3 miles – and I would never intrude on anyone else.

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Thanks! :) For those who might experience a similar fate, my experience with DJI support was excellent, if slightly slower than rocket speed. They sold me a replacement aircraft only (I had the fly more package) and at a 15% discount. And the good news is that it has arrived today!

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Hi Dale! Nice to meet you :) I used to live in the backwoods around West Yellowstone for a few summers! Trout was a long term passion of mine but I now I currently chase these... I was actually doing pretty well with hand catching and launching. I’m pretty sure I just managed to fit the...

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Nice film Dunstan! I hadn’t realised how extensive the fish farms were on Kenyir. I’m heading over that way later this year to fish for Ikan Kelah. Hopefully my sunk drone won’t be as difficult to land as that Toman :D Cheers, Paul

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Hi Duncan, fantastic - a great plan! We can shoot off down the lake :)

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Hi UKDrone-guy, I live on a boat on Lake Belum-Temenggor which is the middle of the top end of peninsular Malaysia about 20km south of Thailand. It’s a huge labyrinth of a jungle lake about 80km long. I’ll hopefully shoot some better footage shortly. The footage so far has been more figuring...

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Blimey Slup!! Thanks mate I’ll read through carefully (in my hammock tonight!). It was a hand launch and I could feel the aircraft trying to go sideways and not upwards. I should have turned it upside down of course, but I did something more interesting instead and let go! It could be a whole...

    Hello from the Malaysian Jungle

Hi chaps, New member here! I was given a Mavic Air 2 for my birthday in December - from my wife - fantastic present. But I think I must have fitted the props on incorrectly at some point and it took off into the lake! So I’ve just bought a replacement through DJI which should arrive tomorrow...
