Yes you can do that actually, when you're twisting it, make it a small and a larger circle, then fold the smaller circle inward first. Then you twist the larger circle again and fold it again. But it won't reduce the overall diameter by a whole lot tho.

Mike, The bag actually comes with a carabiner that you can use to carry other accessories such as the landing pad. My colleague also tried squeezing the landing pad into the drinking bottle pouch and it's another option that could be used to carry a larger landing pad.

Is your landing pad reinforced by wire and fold by twisting the pad into a "8" shape first then fold around? 29cm is the diameter right?

Seriously, the Mavic's props are sitting so low compared to the Phantom, any slight movement on your head when you land the drone, or any mistake when you try to land the drone, and you may end up flying the drone straight into your head... or worse your neck? I don't think it's a good idea...
