I have tried it a couple of times too, it seems to work really well. Much nicer footage than manually controlled. At least with my piloting skills.
And, it seems to keep the FCC mode on :)
Normal PLA won’t work, these need to be printed with a flexible material. They are pressed onto the legs. I used Verbatim Primalloy (TPE). Flexible PLA could work.
Yes, they are meant to be flown with.
The Air's legs are quite difficult to measure with a caliper. There's no symmetry and the faces are all tilted in different angles. I did a few iteration prints too before arriving to the final version.
