    I remove the sim card from my phone and pop in to the dongle. If I'm flying from my house, I connect the controller to my home WiFi. If I'm out of the house, I use the WiFi hotspot from my wife's phone to connect to the controller. Both methods...

    Yes. Note that this is a two way data communication, one side has to receive the data, where the other part is sending. Do not think as a phone call where the caller pays the cost. No.
