You pointed a .22 rifle up in the air and pulled the trigger more than once.

I bought a three pack of PolarPro filters and the case came with the wrench.
Try wearing surgical gloves, hold on to the camera with one hand and twist the stock lens cover counter clock wise.

PS. When you do get it off, there is no reason to snug them down when you put them back on.
