Is the FAA Killing the Hobby? — Remote ID Myths

Sorry but I think your logic is a little flawed.

When I was working for Multivista they had an Inspire 2 crash and thought it was a total. Sent it in and they repaired it for $1200.00, a lot cheaper than a new Inspire 2.

Why do I want to get a 107 cert?

If a recreational pilot uses some common sense, I see no need for them to have a commercial license. The key here is common sense, and that is something that is lacking in some people.

I just threw the question out there, didn't mean it as an accusation. Were you monitoring the flight and did you attempt to take control once it started losing altitude? I suppose I've just been lucky because I've never had any flight problems with any one of the three drones. I have an old...

Why do I want to get a 107 cert?

However my aviation background did not prepare me for some of the problems with drone operations. The issue on this forum is to make us all better at whatever we do, safer, and more knowledgeable. Much of my flying career was flying a crop duster, and that has nothing to do with drones other...

    Looks Like I'm Back

You are right, drone in a mine is a bad idea.

Is there a definitive source of no-fly zones?

49 U.S. Code § 40103 - Sovereignty and use of airspace. Everything is there to prove your point. Also having a 107 license to show the authorities would help prove your point.

Is there a definitive source of no-fly zones?

I have dealt with this. No city, county or state has authority over airspace; that is the law. Now the FED can restrict certain areas such as prisons, National Parks, military bases, and TCAs. If you have a safe place to launch from you can fly that drone over that park all you want, however...

Why do I want to get a 107 cert?

In aviation, there are different classifications of pilots—the private pilot, commercial, and ATP rating. There is also the instrument and multi-engine ratings. The 107 does nothing but allow someone to use the drone commercially. If I publish a video I found that someone took with a drone...

I really hate to say this but is there a chance it was pilot error by not watching his altitude. I disagree, cell divination is not common and shouldn't be. I have Phantoms, Inspire 2, and Mavic 2 and have only seen it one time and I disposed of the battery.

Another reason to hate on drones

I live in a remote area of California and many people have lost their insurance due to our many fires. Mainly the Paradise fire that destroyed the entire town. I filmed a large portion of the aftermath of that fire and it was heartbreaking to see. The insurance companies are not about protecting...

Meta I understand your point. I'm wondering what the RTH altitude was set at and if there was any input from the controller. My issue is when I see voltage divination that corrects itself that tells me there is a poor connection somewhere. Was this all the data you got from this flight?

Question about FAA Advisory Circular AC91-57C regarding VLOS

You have a good question. For me, I watch the display most of the time, it tells me more about what the drone is doing more than me staring at the drone. I have done a lot of large acreage mapping where the drone at times was almost a half a mile away. I could still see it, but it was a speck in...

I think you had a battery connection issue. You should have had a warning when you first took off because of the cell divination in #4 cell. The reason I said I felt it was a connection issue is because the deviation seemed to correct itself then return later in the flight. I had the same thing...
